Make a Difference TodayAt St. Lawrence and Margarita Dosal School Orphanage, we are dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing, and loving environment for children who have lost their parents or have been abandoned. Our mission is to give every child the opportunity to grow, learn, and thrive.
St. Lawrence and Margarita Dosal School Orphanage is a faith-based institution established to serve orphaned, vulnerable, and at-risk children through holistic care, education, rehabilitation, and empowerment. The orphanage is a core ministry of the Ecumenical Catholic Church of Christ (ECCC).
Founded in 2000 by Bishop Dr. Godfrey Siundu Wasike and Stella Nangila Siundu, the church was driven by a deep Christian calling to serve the poor, broken, and marginalized. The founders believed in not only preaching hope but also becoming hope in action for children without families.
The orphanage started in the slums of Shimo La Tewa in Kitale, where the founders opened their family home as a refuge for abandoned children. With no external funding, they shared their resources, marking the birth of a nationally impactful ministry.
In 2003, after three years of preparation, the first official intake of children transformed the home-based initiative into an organized School Orphanage, committed to providing shelter, education, spiritual formation, and emotional support.
As the number of children grew, the orphanage relocated to a larger piece of land in Khasoko Ward, Bumula Sub-County, Bungoma County, allowing for structured learning and safe accommodation.
Over the past 20 years, the ministry has served over 10,000 children and young adults, many of whom are now educated, employed, and responsible contributors to society.
The ministry runs a full-time Teenage Mothers Support Program, offering shelter, healthcare, counseling, vocational training, and opportunities for young mothers to return to school.
In response to drug abuse among youths, the ministry established a comprehensive rehabilitation program at the MHC Rehabilitation and Conference Centre, providing structured recovery programs and support.
While based in Bungoma County and Kitale, the ministry's services extend across Kenya through outreach and community programs.
The ministry's growth is supported by generous partners, donors, and volunteers whose contributions have enabled its expansion and sustainability.
Plans are underway to construct a Technical and Vocational Training Centre and a Hospital to further empower and serve the community.
